Electoral Affairs Commission confirms sole candidate for Chief Executive election

The Electoral Affairs Commission for the Chief Executive Election issued a notice today, announcing Mr Sam Hou Fai as the sole accepted candidate for the Chief Executive election, due to be held on 13 October.


Concert by the Macao Chinese Orchestra “A Full Moon Night at the Ruins of St Paul’s 2024” highlights the charm of Chinese music celebrating Mid-Autumn Festival at a World Heritage site

Organised by Cultural Affairs Bureau and co-ordinated by the Macao Orchestra Company, Limited, the Mid-Autumn Festival Concert by the Macao Chinese Orchestra “A Full Moon Night at the Ruins of St Paul’s 2024”, was held on 17 September at 8pm and 9pm, at the Ruins of St. Paul’s. The Orchestra presented a number of classical pieces, drawing the participation of residents and tourists to celebrate this festivity.


“hush! Beach Concerts x Yo~ga Wellfest 2024” offers a music “marathon” and yoga event along the coast

Jointly organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from its Portuguese acronym) and MGM, and co-organised by the Municipal Affairs Bureau, the Marine and Water Bureau and the Macao Government Tourism Office, “hush! Beach Concerts x Yo~ga Wellfest 2024” will be held at Ha Sa Beach from 9 to 10 November, offering diverse music, as well as land and water-based sports and recreational activities, brightening the longest beach coastline of Macao with music performances and sports. This large-scale outdoor event fused with music and yoga will showcase the creativity and vitality of cultural tourism in Macao.

Opening of Macao Union Hospital crucial milestone for Macao's healthcare services

The Chief Executive, Mr Ho Iat Seng, today said the Macao Union Hospital was an important collaborative effort between Macao and the mainland regarding healthcare services, developed under the “One country, two systems” principle. The project marked a significant milestone in Macao’s healthcare services, helping to optimise further the city's healthcare system, he added.



CAS academician gives talk at UM on how multidisciplinary research promotes TCM development

The University of Macau (UM) held a Doctor honoris causa Lecture titled ‘Multi-disciplinary Research Promotes Inheritance and Innovative Development of TCM’ today (16 September). Chen Kaixian, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and honorary doctor of UM, was the speaker. During the talk, Chen shared his thoughts and insights on the interdisciplinary integration of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and Western medicine. The talk was well attended by UM students and faculty, as well as people from various sectors of the community.



Macao University of Tourism (UTM) marks its 29th anniversary with commitment to excellence and advancement

This year marks the 29th anniversary of The Macao University of Tourism (UTM) and its predecessor – Macao Institute for Tourism Studies (IFTM). The celebration ceremony was held at the Mong-Há Campus, where management team and heads, faculty members, staff, students, and alumni representatives of UTM gathered to extend their wishes and blessings.


Results of survey on participation of residents in cultural activities for the 2nd quarter 2024

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that a total of 282,400 individuals participated in cultural activities in the second quarter of 2024. The participation rate (the percentage of participants in cultural activities among the population aged 16 and above) was 50.1%, down by 0.2 percentage points year-on-year. Local population participating in cultural activities totalled 253,200, and the participation rate rose by 1.9 percentage points to 54.0%. Among these local participants, the most popular cultural activities were "going to the cinema" and "going to libraries", with 146,000 participants and 126,800 participants respectively, up by 0.9% and 1.4% year-on-year.
