Operation status of cross-sea bridges and emergency shelters during typhoon

Due to the impact of the Tropical Cyclone “Yagi”, Typhoon Signal No.8 was issued by the Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau at 10:00 pm. In response to the related situation, the three cross-sea bridges in Macao and Coloane and the Lotus Bridge will be closed at 11:30 pm. The lower deck of the Sai Van Bridge will be open to light motor and authorised vehicles starting from 11:00 pm. The Civil Protection Operations Centre hereby urges motorists to avoid using the lower deck of the Sai Van Bridge unless necessary, in order to give way to emergency vehicles.

Declaration of immediate prevention stage

According to the assessment of the Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau, the Typhoon Signal No.8 is issued at 22h00 on 5 September 2024 under the impact of the Tropical Cyclone “Yagi”. In accordance with the Chief Executive Dispatch, pursuant to Article 8, Item 1 of Article 9, and Sub-item 7 of Item 1 of Article 11 of Law No. 11/2020 (Civil Protection Law), in order to safeguard the life and property of citizens, the Macao Special Administrative Region enters into the immediate prevention stage as of 22h00 on 5 September 2024.

IAM calls on food sector to take adequate flood prevention measures

As Typhoon “Yagi” is approaching Macao, which may cause storm surge, the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) calls on persons in charge of establishments of food production and business located in low-lying areas to pay attention to the weather updates issued by the Macao Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau, take adequate measures to prevent floods and power outage, and properly protect their food products and goods to avoid contamination.
