32nd Macao International Fireworks Display Contest will postpone the first two shows scheduled on 7 September owing to weather conditions

The 32nd Macau International Fireworks Display Contest, originally scheduled to be unveiled by the fireworks displays by the companies from Russia and France in tandem with the Fireworks Carnival on 7 September, are postponed due to uncertain weather conditions. Further arrangements will be announced at a later time.


Public Library of the Cultural Affairs Bureau launches the 37th issue of Books and the City

The 37th issue of Books and the City, published by the Public Library of the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC), is now available to the public. Themed around the ‘Power of Pleasure Reading in Community’, this issue gives an introduction to the ‘Worker Bookhouse’ specially designed for employees, the ‘Literary Salon’ for regular literary gatherings on a rooftop, and the ‘The MODSA Book Crossing Box Project’ that is organised by overseas design students and can be found in different leisure spaces, thus unfolding the story of ‘Pleasure Reading in Community’ through the various projects that aim at facilitating the citywide reading culture.


UM organises the first Bank of China Trophy UltiMater Entrepreneur Competition

The Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE) of the University of Macau (UM) organised the first ‘University of Macau & Bank of China Trophy UltiMater Entrepreneur Competition’. With a total prize pool of over MOP 110,000, the event attracted the participation of nearly 50 teams, spanning various sectors including medical equipment, biotechnology, new materials, and fintech. In the final assessment round, 6 winning teams were selected. These teams will be announced at ‘The UltiMater 2024 – The 3rd UM Innovation and Entrepreneurship Exhibition’ on 8 November.

Double celebrations: ‘Mid-Autumn Festival at Macau New Neighbourhood’ to take place on 15 September

As Mid-Autumn Festival draws near, Macau New Neighbourhood (MNN) in Hengqin will hold “Mid-Autumn Festival at Macau New Neighbourhood” on 15 September (Sunday) from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. to mark the festive season with people from Hengqin and Macau in celebration of the 75th Anniversaryof the People’s Republic of China and the25th Anniversaryof theMacaoSAR.
