PLPEX Prioritises Recruitment of People Bilingual in Chinese and Portuguese Registered on Portal

PLPEX brings into full play the role of Macao as a platform linking Mainland China and Portuguese-speaking Countries

The “2018 Portuguese Speaking Countries Products and Services Exhibition (Macao)” (2018 PLPEX) will prioritise the recruitment of translators and receptionists of those bilingual in Chinese and Portuguese registered on the “Economic and Trade Co-operation and Human Resources Portal between China and Portuguese-Speaking Countries” (“the Portal”). They will be directly involved in promoting the development of a platform for Mainland China and Portuguese-speaking Countries in both online and offline connections.

PLPEX, to be held from 18 to 20 October this year at The Venetian Macao, made its debut in 2015 as an exhibition within the 20th Macao International Trade and Investment Fair (20th MIF). Thanks to faster than expected development and with a view to further strengthening the role of Macao as a platform linking Mainland China and Portuguese-speaking Countries, PLPEX was held last year as an independent event. Building on this experience, 2018 PLPEX will remain an independent event held concurrently with the 23rd Macao International Trade and Investment Fair (23rd MIF). It is expected to attract enterprises from Mainland China and eight Portuguese-speaking Countries (Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, Portugal, Sao Tome and Principe, and East Timor), together with local agents of Portuguese-speaking Countries’ food products and professional service providers registered on the Portal. The aim of the event is to offer opportunities for exhibition, negotiation to any enterprises wishing to participate in economic and trade co-operation between Mainland China and Portuguese-speaking Countries.

For the purpose of reinforcing the role of Macao as a “Commercial and Trade Co-operation Service Platform between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries”, and highlighting the significant role of people that are bilingual in Chinese and Portuguese, 2018 PLPEX is making the recruitment of translators and receptionists of those that are bilingual in Chinese and Portuguese registered on the Portal a priority. Staff working at last year’s event considered it a rare opportunity to participate in Macao’s largest exhibition, where they were privileged to come into contact with guests and traders from different countries or regions and practice their Portuguese language skills in real activities.

Anyone interested and registered on the Bilingual Personnel Database on the Portal may send a CV (please specify “2018 PLPEX” bilingual recruitment) on or before 12 September 2018 to the PLPEX Administrative and Service Centre (223 – 225, Avenida do Dr. Rodrigo Rodrigues, Nam Kwong Building, 13/K, Macao), or email it to service@plpex.mo.
