“Collective Exhibition of Macao Visual Arts 2018” opens on Thursday


Organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau, the “Collective Exhibition of Macao Visual Arts 2018” will be inaugurated on 27 September (Thursday), at 6:30pm, at the Tap Seac Gallery. The opening ceremony will be open to the general public.

The “Collective Exhibition of Macao Visual Arts 2018” is an iconic cultural event in the local visual arts sector and a platform for Macao artists to showcase their talent and creativity. A total of 291 works from 182 participants were submitted since the open call last June. The artworks feature innovative themes and a wide variety of media, ranging from paintings, photography to cross-media creations, showing the diversity of the local art scene.

80 artworks have been rigorously selected by a jury composed by 5 experienced art professionals. The work The Fourth of the Wall Series by Lam Un Mei won the Grand Prize of the Jury Award and the Young Artist Award. 10 artworks were selected to receive the Excellent Artwork Award, namely The Fourth of the Wall Series by Lam Un Mei; The Miniature of the City by Vong Vitorino; Leading by Lei Ka Ieng; Boat I, Boat II by Leong Wai Lap; Mixed Feelings – Sense of Distance, Sense of Flow by Chan Ka Ian; Robotic Bugs Fantasy Series by Ho Wai Leng; City of Dreams by Sam Kin Hang; Hover by Route Arts Macau; Local News J1 by Leong Fei In; and Images Collection Plan (90 Pieces of Junk) by Wong Weng Io. In addition, 10 artworks integrate the Special Artwork Selection, namely Imitation by Ieong Mei Cheng; Comet by Ieng Tan Wai; What is being waited? by Sit Ka Kit; Self-healing by Choi Iong Iong; Handa Plan by Cai Guo Jie; Cloud II by Tong Chong; Macao Series by Lam Un Ieng; Hidden Scenery IV, Hidden Scenery VII by Tam Kun Fong; 1460 Days of Waiting by Chiang Wai Lan; and Rest by Leong Chi Ian.

The “Collective Exhibition of Macao Visual Arts 2018” will be held from 28 September to 18 November at the Tap Seac Gallery, located at No. 95 Avenida do Conselheiro Ferreira de Almeida, and at the Temporary Exhibition Gallery of the Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau, located at No. 163 Avenida de Almeida Ribeiro.
