The 23rd Macao International Trade and Investment Fair (23rd MIF) has invited Mozambique and Fujian Province as its "Partner Country" and "Partner Province" to set up theme pavilions to showcase their respective advantages, attracting a number of international businesspeople to take a closer look and approach the exhibitors about collaboration.
The 23rd MIF and 2018 Portuguese-speaking Countries Products and Services Exhibition (Macao) (2018 PLPEX) are open to the public today (19 Oct). Various exhibitions have gather crowds of visitors. Among them, the 200-square-metre “Mozambique Pavilion” organised by the Agency for Investment and Export Promotion of Mozambique demonstrates different types of local investment projects, building materials and real estate, as well as characteristic products like food, beverages and handicrafts. While the 400-square-metre “Fujian Province Pavilion” set up by the Department of Commerce of Fujian Province promotes advantageous industries such as food, tea, ceramic craft, footwear and bags, electronic machine, electronic technology and vessel trade. Both pavilions have provoked the curiosity of the participants and their interest in reaching business co-operation.
Highlighting Own Advantages to Promote Economic and Trade Development
As a Partner Country of this year’s MIF, Mozambique has set up the “Mozambique Pavilion” in the exhibition hall. As the Minister of Industry and Commerce of Mozambique Mr Ragendra Berta de Sousa said, a variety of Mozambican special foods and natural products such as agricultural products and rough gemstone are brought to Macao for this exhibition. They are seeking investors and co-operation partners via the MIF, with an aim to find export channels for the country's rich natural raw materials and processors for agricultural products. According to the Director of the Agency for Investment and Export Promotion of Mozambique Mr Sebastião Sambo, MIF is a greatly effective platform for Portuguese-speaking countries. In addition to promoting the country's special agricultural products, they are exploring co-operation opportunities in the tourism industry through the exhibition.
Mr Lin, an exhibitor at the “Fujian Province Pavilion”, showcased a new type of medical care sharing platform as his key exhibit. Well-known medical team from Taiwan and overseas are invited to join this platform to enable the Mainland people to have access to specialised medical services addressing a broad variety of diseases. Mr Lin said that it is his first time to participate in MIF, and his purpose of participation is get in touch with industry insiders and seek co-operation in research and product development, production and sales. He pointed out that he had joined in many business matching sessions on-site on these two days, which had already made it possible for him to reach plural preliminary consensus on further co-operation.
Miss Ye, a trade visitor from Guangzhou, was attracted by Mozambican foods. After directly communicating with Mozambican exhibitors, she decided to purchase some food products and take them back to Guangzhou for display. She agreed that the MIF’s function as a platform and the diversified exhibitions are productive of co-operation between international exhibitors. Ms Kuok, a local trade visitor, showed her interest in the “Fujian Province Pavilion”. She pointed out that there are various products on display, including tea, tea sets, accessories and daily necessities, which all demonstrate the strong and unique characteristics of Fujian that are nowhere to be found in Macao. She concluded that the exhibition had helped her and the visitors to broaden horizons.
