The 29th Macao International Fireworks Display Contest (“the Contest”) will be staged above the sea area in front of the Macau Tower on 2nd, 9th, 16th and 23rd September and 1st October. The event will line up ten internationally-renowned teams ready to light up the night sky with spectacular fireworks orchestrated to music and laser effects, promising a range of stunning multimedia pyrotechnic shows for the audience. The Fireworks Carnival will be held concurrently as a side event that brings together vibrant performances, tasty delicacies and fun games beneath the fireworks. Through the above, Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) aspires to weave various fascinating elements into an array of wonderful and memorable fireworks evenings for residents and visitors.
Globally prestigious event enjoys wide recognition
The Macao International Fireworks Display Contest is a prestigious event organized by MGTO. In the press conference today (27th July), MGTO Director Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes stated in her speech that the Contest has become a major event and highlight of travel experiences offered by the destination. Thanks to collaborative efforts from different circles and supporters at home and abroad all the way, the Fireworks Contest has kept growing for almost three decades to become an established stage for prominent fireworks companies from worldwide to demonstrate their expertise and artistry in pyrotechnics. The event has enabled the city to glow in the global pyrotechnic community. Today, the Contest has become not only a wonderful season for local residents to celebrate the festive joy doubled by fireworks with their family and friends, but also a magnet for visitors from around the world.
Line-up of premier companies to dazzle the skyline
The Contest lines up ten teams from Australia, Austria, the United Kingdom, France, Japan, the Philippines, Germany, Italy, Portugal and China this year. Each of the companies boasts rich experience in creating mega multimedia fireworks shows. Some of their portfolios include fireworks displays presented in famous theme parks and major national celebrations of different countries.
Among the teams, four companies will make their debut in Macao, including Cardile International Fireworks Pty Ltd from Australia, ALPHA PYROTECHNIE from France, DRAGON FIREWORKS INC. from the Philippines and Liuyang new year fireworks trading co., Ltd. from China. All of them had won first place and other prizes in mega fireworks contests across the globe. Their exquisite productions were well acclaimed.
The other six teams include FIREevent – Die Feuerwerker from Austria, MLE PYROTECHNICS LIMITED from the United Kingdom, MARUTAMAYA Ogatsu FIREWORKS CO., LTD. from Japan, Potsdamer Feuerwerk GmbH from Germany, PANZERA S.A.S. from Italy and Grupo Luso Pirotecnia from Portugal, all of which had participated in the past editions of the Contest in Macao. With industry-wide recognition and accomplishments, the companies dazzled in different competitions as award-winners. With the remarkable lineup, fireworks spectaculars are much anticipated this year.
Experience a diversity of fascinating elements
The shoreline overlooked by the Macau Tower and Kun Iam Ecumenical Centre, the shoreline in Taipa, the top of Penha Hill as well as the leisure, cultural and creative landmark opened last year, Anim'Arte NAM VAN, are among the popular vantage points for fireworks watching. Residents and visitors can enjoy every fireworks evening from their favorite angle and style. For spectators to enjoy the Contest in different dimensions, the fireworks displays will be live broadcast with the synchronized music on TDM – Macao TV Channel at 9 p.m. and 9:40 p.m. every scheduled evening.
The Office teams up with the General Union of Neighbors Association of Macau again this year to present the Fireworks Carnival next to the Macau Tower from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. every fireworks evening. The Carnival will bring together stage performances, tasty delicacies and fun games, adding fantastic highlights to the Contest. In addition, Macao residents are welcome to join the Photo Contest, Student Drawing Contest and Trophy Design Contest to share their unique experiences with beautiful fireworks in the 29th Macao International Fireworks Display Contest.
