Awareness of environmental protection promoted on “Green Public Day”

The last day (tomorrow) of the “2019 Macao International Environmental Co-operation Forum & Exhibition” (2019MIECF), which is hosted by the Government of the Macao Special Administrative Region is the “Green Public Day”. The event will be open to the public on this day. Through a series of on-site educational activities, the “Green Public Day” aims to increase residents’ awareness of environmental protection and encourage them to learn more about eco-products and know-how, and practice a green lifestyle.

Co-ordinated by the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) and the Environmental Protection Bureau (DSPA), the 2019MIECF goes under the theme “Promoting Ecological Civilization and Green Development”. In order to further enhance the public awareness of environmental protection, the “Green Public Day” is available every year on the last day of the MIECF, providing the public with free access to understand the trends and newest developments of environmental protection in different countries and regions, as well as the latest information and technologies related to environmental protection. Meanwhile, guided tours for students are also organised and relevant staff are positioned to explain different types of eco-products, technologies, and information available within the venue.

A series of on-site promotional and educational activities are arranged for the public. This year’s activities include the lucky draw, the environmental workshop, family games, the Eco Fun, an exhibition on waste reduction and recycling, and an area of recycled articles. The mascots of the Environmental Protection Bureau (DSPA), including Mr Earth, Brother Cloud, Sister Flower, and Baby Spoonbill will meet everyone on the spot to encourage the practice of a green lifestyle.

Through these educational activities, the 2019MIECF, an annual international green event, aims to promote environmental information among residents and encourage their practice of environmentally-friendly behaviour in daily life so as to contribute to Macao’s sustainable development.

In order to encourage green transport, the 2019MIECF offers free shuttle buses on the Green Public Day travelling between Central Macao, Northern Macao, Taipa, and the exhibition venue of the MIECF. For more information, please visit the website: www.macaomiecf.com. On the Green Public Day, complimentary self-park is also available at Hall D of The Venetian Macao to drivers with MIECF’s entrance tickets on a first come, first served basis due to limited availability. It is encouraged to share ride with family and friends to participate in this eco-event at the venue of the MIECF.
