Inter-departmental meeting held before Labour Day holidays

As Labour Day holiday is approaching, consumption by citizens are expected to increase, so are the number of inbound tourists. The Consumer Council held a meeting earlier with Economic Services Bureau (DSE), Macao Government Tourist Office (DST), Transport Bureau (DSAT), Judiciary Police (PJ), Public Security Police Force (PSP), Macao Custom Service, Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM), Health Bureau (SS), and Macao Post and Telecommunications Bureau (CTT) to discuss on and exchange information of the protection of consumer rights for local citizens and inbound tourists. Participating representatives all agreed to strengthen patrol and interdepartmental communication during Labour Day holidays to ensure measures taken are well implemented.

To better safeguard consumer rights, the Consumer Council organized patrols with relevant departments to promote good business practice among businesses.

The Consumer Council will provide special hotline service from 9AM to 6 PM daily on 1 May, 4 and 5 May (normal working days on 2 and 3 May). Consumer Council’s staff will be taking calls regarding complaints or inquiry and assistance will be given when necessary. Consumer Council hotline: 8988 9315.

If anyone finds his or her consumer rights being infringed, he or she should file a complaint at the Council or other departments and provide all necessary detailed information. Online complaint service is available on the Council’s website (www.consumer.gov.mo) and the Council’s WeChat account for consumers’ convenience.
