Macao conducts a 5-week aerial mapping task

To collect the latest geographical data of the Macao territory, Macao will conduct a five-week aerial mapping task with low-flying operations to be performed with the unmanned vehicle and the helicopter.

The preparatory work for the aerial mapping task will soon kick off. The entire task will take about five weeks to complete and is expected to conclude in late-August. During the above period, the Cartography and Cadastre Bureau (DSCC) will make markings on the grounds in different areas in Macao where these points are deemed appropriate to facilitate the task. The working staff of the DSCC will wear the safety shirt and the staff card for identity. The aerial mapping task will be carried out in the airspace above the territory of Macao using either the multi-rotor unmanned vehicle or the helicopter depending on the geographical points. To ensure safety and prevent the mapping task from interfering with the normal operations of the flights, the Civil Aviation Authority of Macao SAR (AACM) will assess the approval process of the aerial mapping in a stringent manner in accordance with the technical requirements of such operations as stipulated in the Air Navigation Regulation of Macao.

As the aerial mapping can only take place in good weather conditions, the operation period is therefore approved for five weeks to guarantee that there are adequate good days to perform the duty. The SAR Government will strictly require the operator of the work to complete the task safely. Any person who wishes to enquire about this aerial mapping task can contact the AACM at telephone number +853 2851 1213 or the DSCC at telephone number +853 2834 0040.
