Consular corps accredited in Hong Kong and Macao visited exhibition integrated in “Art Macao”

On the occasion of the mega international arts and cultural event “Art Macao”, the MSAR Government invited members of the consular corps accredited in Hong Kong and Macao to participate in a visit organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau, to an art exhibition integrated in the “Art Macao” event, on 20 August. The visit aimed to promote the concept of “A Cultural Macao” and to raise the reputation of this new iconic brand of cultural tourism at regional and international level, thus exploring more opportunities for future collaboration.

The delegation visited one of the main exhibitions of “Art Macao”, “GRACE KELLY: From Hollywood to Monaco – Artists’ Tributes”, an exhibition organised by the Galaxy Entertainment Group, followed by a dinner at Oasis in Galaxy MacauTM. At the dinner, a toasting ceremony was led by the Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture, Alexis Tam Chon Weng; the Deputy Director of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao SAR, Xue Xiaofeng; the Director of Macao Government Tourism Office, Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes; the Acting President of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, Leong Wai Man; the Acting Director of the Education and Youth Affairs Bureau, Leong Vai Kei; the Vice Chairman of Galaxy Entertainment Group, Francis Lui; the Managing Director and Chief Administrative Officer of Sociedade de Jogos de Macau, S.A. (SJM), Angela Leong On Kei; the Chief Government Affairs Officer of Melco Resorts & Entertainment Limited, Maggie Ma; the Senior Vice President of Communications of Wynn Macau, Limited, Katharine Liu; the Vice President of Brand and Advertising of MGM, Catarina Lio; the Vice President of Corporate Communications & Community Affairs of Sands China Ltd., Sam Chongnin; the Manager of Conference and Exhibition Department of Nam Kwong International Conference & Exhibition Company Ltd., Liao Qihui; and the Head of the Department of General Affairs of the Higher Education Bureau, Lam Man Tat, in the hope that the participating countries may engage in extensive and in-depth cultural exchange and build strong and lasting friendships through the “Art Macao” platform, thus exploring more opportunities for future collaboration. In order to showcase the diverse cultural heritage of Macao and the charm of “Creative City of Gastronomy”, Galaxy Entertainment Group specially invited a number of small and medium local enterprises to prepare local specialties for the dinner, and organized a series of Chinese and Western performances.

The first edition of “Art Macao” was supported by various consulates accredited in Hong Kong and Macao, showcasing unique art from different countries. The “Japan Pavilion”, organised by the Consulate-General of Japan in Hong Kong, presents the photography exhibition “Pure Actress” at the Tap Seac Gallery until 29 August, featuring photographs of 39 leading Japanese actresses by famous photographer Masaaki Tomitori. The Consulate General of Italy in Hong Kong presents the exhibition “Colours of Asia” at the Exhibition Gallery of the Taipa Houses until 22 September, featuring paintings by artist Francesco Lietti themed on travel and discovery. The Consulate General of Belgium in Hong Kong presents the exhibition “Prosperous years” at the Old Court Building until 15 September, featuring the lantern installations named “Happy Heads” by contemporary artist duo Benoit+Bo, which symbolise the universality of art and human feelings in a globalised world.
