Goal 1. Acquire or update knowledge on plant physiology with emphasis on photosynthesis and respiration 2. Understand the link between environmental conditions (light, quality of light, nutrients) on photosynthesis and their relevance on productivity through inquiry-based investigations 3. Acquire or update laboratory skills and learn new methods in plant physiology through practical laboratory exercises 4. Design inquiry-based activities.
Message Session 1 - Review of current studies and teaching materials on the subject - Class exercise to learn or update on plant physiology methods and techniques Session 2 - Class exercise to design an investigation - Laboratory experiment: Photosynthesis vs. Irradiance curves Session 3 - Laboratory exercise: chlorophyll extraction from various treatments from experiment in Session - Data analysis and interpretation Remark: The medium of instruction is English, while simultaneous interpretation into Chinese is available.
