Sun Guoxing receives the Scientist Medal

Sun Guoxing, an assistant professor from the Institute of Applied Physics and Materials Engineering (IAPME), University of Macau (UM), recently received the 2019 IAAM Scientist Medal at the 27th award ceremony of the International Association of Advanced Materials (IAAM) held in Sweden, for his outstanding contributions to the field of advanced materials science.

Dr Sun obtained his PhD degree in civil and environmental engineering from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. His main research interests include advanced polymeric materials, nanocomposites, surface and interface science, cementitious materials, and polymer-based concrete admixtures. He has published 43 academic papers, obtained seven patents, and achieved technology industrialisation for one project.

The IAAM is an international organisation formed by researchers of advanced materials from around the world. It is dedicated to providing a platform for research and education in the fields of advanced materials science, engineering, and technology. The major goal of the IAAM is ‘Advancement of Materials to Global Excellence’. The IAAM Scientist Medal aims to award outstanding researchers for the impact of their research studies in physics, chemistry, biology, engineering, medical sciences, mathematics, earth, atmosphere, oceanology, and planetary sciences. Candidates working as independent investigators should demonstrate excellent leadership skills and vision for the field of materials science. Recipients of the award are selected based on their contributions during the five years preceding the year of the award.
