Goal To assist participants to understand the basic concept of education, the basic connotation of Information Technology Education, Macao’s education system and related laws and regulations;to improve information technology teaching staff’s theoretical knowledge and application ability of integrating Information Technology into classroom teaching; to understand the current development status of information technology in Macao and Asian-Pacific regions as well as the impact of new technology on teaching in secondary and primary schools and its development trends; to help participants keep abreast of the times, thereby develop their correct concept of information technology education and know clearly about the role of information technology in school education.
Message 1. The Basic Knowledge of Education (12 hours): including the basic concepts of education, theoretical foundations and essence of various educational activities (including educational principles, scientific theories and comprehensive education technology). 2. Basic Theory of Information Technology Education and Its Application (18 hours): including the basic connotation, the development and status quo of information technology education and the application of information technology in the educational field; knowing about the education system in Macao and the related laws and regulations as well as the developmental characteristics of all levels of education and society; understanding the current development status of information technology in the field of education in Macao, covering related government policies, government subsidies, schools’ outfit of hardware and software, and so on. From a practical perspective, the course also introduces to teachers the general situation of application of information technology and its professional development, the current development status of information technology in Macao and in the regions nearby, as well as the related challenges and costs of integrating information technology into teaching and the teaching effectiveness. 3. In this module, a course on “Integration of Big Data into Teaching – Method and Application” is added. With the rapid development of society, big data has been incorporated into the development of different industries. In the age of big data, the teaching mode has changed from empirical imitation and computer-assisted instruction to data-driven instruction. In view of this, the purpose of the course aims to help information technology teaching staff in Macao to keep abreast of times, to update and present the innovative teaching ideas and teaching models in the big data age.
