The 19th Macao City Fringe Festival, organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau, has seen a positive response from the public since tickets went on sale in December. To meet the enthusiastic demand of the public, additional performances will be offered for the popular programmes Binaural Dinner Date and Property Guide at Lou Kau Mansion at 9 p.m. on 10 January 2020 (Friday) and 7:30 p.m. on 15 January 2020 (Wednesday). Tickets for these additional performances will go on sale via the Macau Ticketing Network outlets, website and hotline starting from 10 a.m. on 2 January 2020 (Thursday). Limited tickets are currently available for other programmes and interested parties should not miss the opportunity.
Themed ‘Boundless creation will show you around!’, the 19th Macao City Fringe Festival will present 17 remarkable programmes and 13 outreach activities from 10 to 19 January 2020, guiding the audience in travelling across streets and districts in Macao and embarking together on a creative journey full of fantasy. Binaural Dinner Date and Property Guide at Lou Kau Mansion have been well received among the public since tickets went on sale, and both programmes have already been sold out. In response to public demand, additional performances of the two programmes will be scheduled at 9 p.m. on 10 January (Friday) and 7:30 p.m. on 15 January (Wednesday).
Tickets for the other programmes are limited and interested parties are advised to purchase with haste. This year, the Festival has launched a special series ‘Crème de la Fringe’ with two subthemes. The subtheme ‘On Site’ features three dance performances, ImprovFlashMob, Body Traveller and A Step to Theatre: Put out the Flame, as well as dance workshops and a sharing session. From street to theatre, artists will use their bodies to present different possibilities, enabling the audience to feel the power of physical movement at close range.
The second subtheme ‘Puppet and Object Theatre Festival in Coloane’ will feature three contemporary puppet theatre productions Fragile, Story Market and Nightwalk: Pourquoi?, presented by artists from Macao, Taiwan and Canada in different styles, as well as extended workshops. With the power of Eastern and Western visual theatre, the performances will incorporate lighting, sound art, multimedia puppets and local original stories in Coloane, a place where humanity and nature still live in harmony, bringing to the audience alternative yet relaxing artistic moments.
Also among the programmes is Kaleidoscope in Motion by Stella & Artists, a cross-disciplinary work blending dance, projection and digital elements. Bodies, time and space, memories, lights and shadows are interwoven into a dazzling kaleidoscope, creating subtle visual effects and igniting the audience’s unbridled imagination. In the co-production Wearing My Untold Stories by the Soda-City Experimental Workshop Arts Association and the Artistry of Wind Box Community Development Association, artists will convey their feelings through clothing and encourage the audience to embrace those long-buried memories by reminiscing with a range of clothing.
