Whereabouts in Macao of the Hong Kong Confirmed Case 3 Tested Negative amongst 8 Close Contacts


The Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre revealed that, as reported by the Hong Kong authorities, a confirmed case of COVID-19 has visited Macao during March 22 to 27. The case is a 40-year-old female Hong Kong resident of Filipino nationality, working as a bar waitress in Hong Kong. She resided in Rua de S. José no. 11 Edf. Tak Cheong during her stay in Macao; her flatmates include 1 co-worker from Hong Kong and 1 Filipino non-resident worker registered in Macao, no other individuals shared the residence apart from them.

Whereabouts of the patient are as follows:

On March 22 at 14:23, the Filipina and her Hong Kong co-worker entered into Macao through the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge; around 14:30, they took bus no. 101X to Avenida de Almeida Ribeiro (commonly known as “San Ma Lou”) and firstly reached their residence. At around 16:00, they patronized Haagen Daz inTravessa do Roquete, bought a power cord in Fortress in Senado Square, and went grocery shopping in Mercado de S. Domingos Municipal Complex. At night time, they cooked in their apartment and had meal gathering with friends.

On March 23 at around 16:00, the Filipina and her Hong Kong co-worker had meal at Jollibee in San Ma Lou, went grocery shopping in Mercado de S. Domingos Municipal Complex, and at around 17:00 returned to their residence. At night time, they cooked in their apartment and had meal gathering with friends.

On March 24 afternoon, she and her Hong Kong co-worker returned to their residence right after doing grocery shopping in Mercado de S. Domingos Municipal Complex. At around 18:00. they took a taxi from San Ma Lou to their friend’s home at Rua da Ribeira do Patane no.137 Edf. Kwong Heng, where they cooked in the apartment and had meal together; they left at around 22:00 and returned to the residence on foot.

On March 25 at around 14:00, the case and her Hong Kong co-worker had meal at Jollibee in San Ma Lou, did grocery shopping in Mercado de S. Domingos Municipal Complex at around 18:00 and then returned to their residence. At night, they cooked in their apartment and had meal gathering with friends.

On March 26 at around 16:00, the Filipina and her Hong Kong co-worker walked to Ponte 16 region and took a taxi to Broadway Food Street where they spent their time (approx. 18:00-21:00) at the Roadhouse Macau bar. After that, they returned to the San Ma Lou region by shuttle bus, then returned to the residence on foot at around 22:00.

On March 27 at around 16:30, she and her Hong Kong co-worker took bus no. 101X from San Ma Lou to the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao border, and returned to Hong Kong by using the cross-boundary shuttle bus (commonly known as the “golden bus”).

The case indicated that she did not put on a mask in her residence, but she did put on a mask when she was outside or using public transport. The case claimed that she spent most of her time in the San Ma Lou region, she only had gatherings with her friends during her stay in Macao, and did not stage any external performance.

At present, the Health Bureau has successfully contacted 8 individuals who have met or had meal together with the confirmed case; they all are considered as close contacts and have been transferred to the Special Emergency Room of Conde de S. Januário General Hospital for examination. Up till now, 3 have been tested negative, including the Filipino non-resident worker who shared residence with the case. All 8 close contacts will be placed under medical observation in the Temporary Medical Isolation Centre. The Health Bureau will continue to contact trace and follow-up individuals who have been in contact with the case, and at the same time, people who have been in contact with this Hong Kong confirmed case are urged to proactively contact the Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre at 28700800 for further follow up.
