New space of the Central Book Stack of the Macao Public Library under the Cultural Affairs Bureau officially opened Retrieval services resumed

The Central Book Stack located in the Multifunctional Government Building

In order to optimise and consolidate the storage space of the Central Book Stack of the Macao Public Library under the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from its Portuguese acronym), the Central Book Stack, originally located in Edifício Industrial Tong Lei on Avenida do Almirante Lacerda, has been relocated to the Multifunctional Government Building on Lot O1 in Pac On, Taipa. The new space of the Central Book Stack will be officially opened on 08 June (Monday), and the retrieval services for books and audio-visual materials will resume. Residents can make reservations through the library website or the mobile application and collect the reserved items at the selected library.

The new space of the Central Book Stack covers an area of about 1,500m2, with an existing collection of approximate 350,000 volumes/items and an estimated storage capacity up to 450,000 volumes/items. As a storage space for library resources, the Central Book Stack not only provides the retrieval services but also centralizes the inter-library return process. In order to optimise the logistics process, the returned books and materials collected by each library will be transported to the Central Book Stack and distributed back to the libraries where they belong through the logistics. The Central Book Stack is not open to the public.

For enquiries, please contact the Library through tel. no. 2893 0077 or 2856 7576 during office hours, or visit the Macao Public Library website at www.library.gov.mo or the mobile application “My Library”.
