UM holds workshop on opportunities and challenges in developing non-gaming elements

Senior executives from gaming operators exchange ideas with scholars at UM

The Institute for the Study of Commercial Gaming (ISCG) in the Faculty of Business Administration (FBA), University of Macau (UM) held the Exchange Workshop on Opportunities and Challenges in Developing Non-Gaming Elements for senior executives from gaming operators in Macao to exchange ideas with scholars at FBA.

As part of the FBA’s Executive Development Programmes, the workshop served as a platform for gaming industry practitioners and scholars at UM to exchange ideas and share their experience on opportunities and challenges facing the development of non-gaming elements. Jean Chen, dean of the FBA, delivered a welcome speech. According to Prof Chen, this exchange workshop is expected to promote mutual communications among gaming operators and provide them with valuable insights and suggestions so that they can overcome difficulties and find new opportunities in developing non-gaming elements.

During the workshop, the senior executives and FBA scholars discussed the current development trends for non-gaming elements and expressed their opinions based on real cases. According to the participants, the event will help gaming operators plan more proactively for their future and develop non-gaming elements in the industry in line with the SAR government’s guidelines.

The workshop was moderated by Lawrence Fong, assistant dean of the FBA. Keynote speakers and participants in the round-table discussion include Jean Chen, dean of the FBA, Davis Fong, director of UM’s Institute for the Study of Commercial Gaming, as well as senior executives from the six gaming operators, namely Linda Chen, vice chairman and executive director of Wynn Macau Limited; Kenneth Feng, president, chief strategic officer, and director of MGM China Holdings Limited; Grant Chum, chief operating officer of Sands China Ltd; Raymond Lo, Melco Resorts & Entertainment, senior vice president, property general manager of Altira Macau & Mocha Clubs; Buddy Lam, senior vice president of public relations of Galaxy Entertainment Group; and Serene Chia, group head – corporate brand and marketing of Sociedade de Jogos de Macau, S.A.
