Tropical storm Nuri located at the northern part of the South China Sea is moving northwestwards towards the western coast of Guangdong. It will make landfall near Yangjiang. The rainband associated with Nuri will start to affect Macao later tonight, winds will gradually intensify and there will be squally showers, rain will be heavy at times. Nuri will come closest to Macao early morning on Sunday at about 150km southeast to Macao. Weather in Macao will become more unsettled and the winds will be force scale 7-8 south to southeasterly with gusts. Under the effect of Nuri, winds may occasionally reach the minimum limit of the tropical cyclone signal No.8. The possibility of issuing tropical cyclone signal no.8 cannot be eliminated.

In addition, as the astronomical tide is low today and tomorrow, the possibility of having storm surge flooding in Macao is relatively low. However, members of the public are advised to be aware of flooding caused by heavy rain and prepare preventive measures. Please also pay attention to the latest news.
