Icons and Meaning of Rainstorm Warning Signals

Level	Icon	Meaning
Yellow Rainstorm Warning Signal		Heavy rain has fallen or is expected to fall over extensive areas, exceeding 20 millimetres in an hour, and is likely to continue.
Red Rainstorm Warning Signal		Heavy rain has fallen or is expected to fall over extensive areas, exceeding 50 millimetres in an hour, and is likely to continue.
Black Rainstorm Warning Signal		Heavy rain has fallen or is expected to fall over extensive areas, exceeding 80 millimetres in an hour, and is likely to continue.

• There will be situations in which a RED or Black Rainstorm Warning Signal is issued directly without a preceding lower level signal.
• The rainstorm warning signal will not be issued during the tropical cyclone signal n.o 8 or above is in force.
