“A Century of Chinese Music”, the opening performance of the Macao Chinese Orchestra’s new season, in commemoration of the founding of the Datong Music Society in Shanghai 100 years ago, which has kicked off the development of modern Chinese music, laying an important foundation for modern Chinese national orchestra and the cultivation of Chinese musical talents, and opening up a new musical chapter for Chinese national orchestra. The concert features two renowned plucked-string performers, including the fabulous pipa master Zhang Hongyan and the contemporary outstanding zheng player Luo Jing, who performed the famous pipa piece “A Moonlit Night on Spring River” and the well-known zheng work “Fishermen's Song at Dusk” respectively. The outstanding musicians lend their superb skills and dazzling virtuosity to these orchestral classics.
