IFTM Wine Appreciation Club Members Certified as Wines of Portugal Ambassador

12 student members of the IFTM Wine Appreciation Club, an affiliate of the IFTM Student Union, have been certified by the ViniPortugal trade association as “Wines of Portugal Ambassador (Initiation Level)” on March 19 after successfully completing the related training and examination.

The training was sponsored by Wynn and instructed by Mr. David Wong, Executive Director of Wynn Food and Beverage Academy and the only Approved Tutor for Wines of Portugal Ambassador Certification in Macao. The training included the study of winemaking history and techniques in Portugal, as well as the knowledge of the various native grape varieties, the range of climates and types of soil contributing to the diversity and uniqueness of Portuguese wines. Under the guidance of the instructor, the student members sampled the wines from the key regions in Portugal and learned how to pair different wine styles such as red, white and Port with a variety of delicacies. Upon completion of the required training and examination, 12 student members have been awarded the certificate.

As a company with deep roots in the community, Wynn actively cultivates local talents and provides extensive training programs and internship opportunities for IFTM students. At the same time the IFTM Wine Appreciation Club believes that through this training collaboration with Wynn Food & Beverage Academy, students will not only enhance their knowledge in Portuguese wines but also to be able to equip themselves to prepare for future career opportunities.
