Macao enters state of immediate prevention in relation to COVID-19

The Macao Special Administrative Region has entered a state of immediate prevention, with effect from 3.30pm on 3 August, in relation to risk of a local COVID-19 outbreak. Such risk is evaluated to be extremely high.

The declaration is in accordance with an Executive Order, following an evaluation by Macao’s Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre.

Declaration of the alert status is in a bid to prevent the virus from spreading in the community, thus protecting the safety and the lives of the Macao public.

The status as declared is defined in Provision 3 of Article 8 of the Civil Protection Law.
