Government thanks Guangdong for assisting in community-wide nucleic acid testing

The Macao Special Administrative Region (MSAR) Government has expressed sincere gratitude to the Guangdong Government for the latter’s strong support in organising at utmost speed a team of 300 technicians, dispatched to Macao to assist the city’s community-wide nucleic acid testing programme.

The MSAR Government launched on 4 August a mass-testing programme, following identification on 3 August of one imported case and three import-related cases of COVID-19. The testing programme aims to have an in-depth understanding of the local epidemic-related situation in the shortest possible time, and to prevent a possible COVID-19 outbreak.

Guangdong’s support is at the request of the MSAR Government. The Guangdong team has arrived in Macao and has been dispatched to testing stations to assist Macao’s effort.

The MSAR Government believes that with the support of Guangdong, the efficiency of the mass nucleic acid testing will be greatly enhanced and waiting times for members of the Macao public at the test centres will be reduced.
