UM-organised inter-varsity short video competition now open for submissions

UM-organised short video competition is now open for submissions

To nurture creativity in university students and to promote knowledge of media production, the Chinese-Portuguese Bilingual Teaching and Training Centre (CPC) of the Department of Portuguese, Faculty of Arts and Humanities, University of Macau (UM), has launched an inter-varsity short video competition. All university students in Macao are welcome to submit their videos before 12 November 2021.

The theme of the competition is ‘Paixão’, a Portuguese word that indicates a strong feeling and has multiple meanings -- it can mean a passion for something or someone, or a feeling of intense sexual attraction to someone; it can also mean love, desire, or even resentment and pain. Participants are required to produce short videos to interpret feelings encompassed by the word ‘Paixão’ using their imagination and creativity. The duration of the video should be between five and ten minutes. Each team can only submit one video for the competition.

All full-time undergraduate and postgraduate students in Macao are eligible to participate, either individually or in a group of up to three members. Those who are interested should submit their videos at https://forms.gle/SxVhEpugrhgGVZSG7 before 12 November 2021. Late submissions will not be accepted. A total of 11 prizes will be given out, including one first prize, two second prizes, three third prizes, and five merit prizes. The first prize is a MOP 8,000 gift voucher, while the second, third, and merit prizes will be a MOP 5,000 gift voucher, a MOP 2,500 gift voucher, and a MOP 1,000 gift voucher, respectively. The winners will be announced on 3 December 2021 on the CPC’s website.

For more information about the competition, please visit the CPC’s website at https://cpc.fah.um.edu.mo/. For enquiries, please email to bilingualcentre@um.edu.mo or call 8822 4532 during office hours.
