Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre emphasizes no suspected positive sample detected since 18 October Zhuhai-Macao cross-boundary arrangements be effective from 12 pm today (19 October) as scheduled


In response to a bogus news item circulating in the social media which reports that the information release platform of the Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre indicated that, “As one suspected positive sample has been detected in the nucleic acid tests at night on 18 October… the Zhuhai-Macao cross-boundary arrangements from 12 pm today will be deferred… ”, the Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre (hereinafter referred to as “the Centre”) emphasizes that, no suspected positive sample has been detected since yesterday (18 October), and the Zhuhai-Macao cross-boundary arrangement will be effective from 12 pm today as scheduled.

The Centre strongly condemns such illegal act, and has notified the Judiciary Police for follow-up in this regard, those responsible shall be pursued in accordance with the law. Meanwhile, the Centre also calls on all Macao residents not to forward or hastily believe inunsubstantiated messages to avoid creating unnecessary panic in the society. In addition, the Centre also emphasizes that wilful spread of rumours shall be subject to criminal liabilities. Information on COVID-19 will be centrally disseminated by the Government Information Bureau of the Macao SAR.
