Visitor arrivals steadily rebound in Macao with top single-day record of 28,000 on 26 October Promotions continue to showcase Macao as safe and quality destination and attract visitors for mega events

Rebound in visitor arrivals

As the pandemic situation becomes stable in Macao, Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) instantly steps up its promotional efforts. Visitor arrivals have been trending upward again in recent days. Average daily visitor arrivals exceeded 25,000 between 20 – 28 October. On 26 October, Macao registered the highest single-day record of 28,000 visitor arrivals.

Since Macao entered the state of immediate prevention and tightened its measures against COVID-19 on 25 September, visitor arrivals had drastically declined in the city. However, as the pandemic control and prevention measures were loosened at the ports of entry between Zhuhai and Macao from 12:00 noon on 19 October, MGTO unfolded the marketing campaign to spotlight Macao as a safe and quality destination among Mainland residents through various social media such as WeChat, Weibo, Xiaohongshu and Douyin, while pushing forward different promotional initiatives. With the stable pandemic situation and the promotional efforts gradually paying off, Macao has seen a steady rebound in visitor arrivals in recent days and registered the highest single-day record of 28,299 visitor arrivals on 26 October.

MGTO continues to dedicate strong efforts to promote the destination online and spotlight mega events as well, which, in addition to the multiplying effect created by the variety of special offers from the Scheme to Expand Visitor Source, has led to enthusiastic feedback of Mainland netizens, who expressed much interest in visiting Macao on social networks.

More mega events and community activities will be coming up In November and December, including the Macau Grand Prix and Macau Food Festival in November, as well as the Macao Light Festival and the Light up Macao Drone Gala both organized by MGTO in December. Moreover, MGTO has been actively gearing up for the physical promotional event of “Macao Week” in hope to attract more visitors for travel and spending in order to spur economic revival in local communities and revitalize the tourism industry.

The Macao Grand Prix Museum under MGTO’s management will organize 16 sessions of parent-and-child Little Racers DIY Workshops on weekends in November, to support and promote the 68th Macau Grand Prix.
