The Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) organised a delegation of nearly 70 representatives of Macao enterprises to leave for Shanghai today (4 November) to participate in the fourth China International Import Expo (4th CIIE). IPIM has also set up two pavilions and will hold an investor presentation session at the venue bid to give full play to Macao’s role as a platform between China and Portuguese-speaking countries (PSCs), promote Macao’s business advantages, and support local enterprises in exploring business opportunities.
The 4th CIIE, organised by the Ministry of Commerce and the Shanghai Municipal People’s Government, will be held at the National Exhibition and Convention Centre (Shanghai) from 5 to 10 November.
Understanding market trends through CIIE
The delegation consists of close to 70 representatives of Macao enterprises from various industries, including trade, MICE, finance, e-commerce, technology, food, hotel and tourism, catering, manufacturing, and professional services. During the event, the representatives will join and attend CIIE-related activities to learn about the latest market trends in different regions and look for business partners.
Debut of nearly one-third of the Macao delegation in CIIE
IPIM has set up pavilions in the “Food and Agricultural Products” and “Trade in Services” zones. The “Macao and Lusophone Food and Beverage Pavilion” in the Food and Agricultural Products zone occupies an area of 600 square metres while the “Lusophone Professional Services Pavilion” in the Trade in Services zone occupies an area of 60 square metres.
The two pavilions feature a total of 46 companies with Made-in-Macao products, Macao brands, local agents of PSCs’ food and beverage products, and local firms engaged in services trade. Nearly one third of the Macao enterprises are participating in the event for the first time.
Supporting Macao products and services to gain entry into various regions through online and offline channels
The “Macao and Lusophone Food and Beverage Pavilion” in the Food and Agricultural Products zone is equipped with multimedia and 3D equipment to display Macao’s efforts in participating in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the Guangdong-Macao Intensive Co-operation Zone in Hengqin, promote the advantage of Macao as a platform between China and PSCs, and introduce the city’s investment environment and trade in services and MICE industry development. Onsite promotional activities also include consultation services via video calls, food and beverage tasting, business matching sessions, demonstrations of Macao pastry souvenirs are made, and an introduction to the “Economic & Trade Co-operation and Human Resources Portal between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries”.
The “Lusophone Professional Services Pavilion” in the Trade in Services zone serves to promote PSC-related professional services, including accounting, translation, and MICE event planning services, as well as air purification works for hotels and business establishments.
In the meantime, exhibitors’ introduction, product display and contact information are featured on the “Online Exhibition” page of the CIIE official website, thereby facilitating Macao products and services to tap the market in various regions through online and offline platforms.
Highlighting Macao’s role as Sino-Lusophone platform through presentation session
Moreover, IPIM will hold the “Join Macao, Seize PSCs Opportunities” Investor Presentation Session on 6 November to give the participants an understanding of the economic and trade development of PSCs, and the professional services and support provided by Macao in financial, legal and other fields for the business co-operation between the commercial and industrial circles of China and PSCs.
To promote the construction of Macao as the food product distribution centre for PSCs, a “PSCs’ Wine Tasting” will also be held in the afternoon of the same day to further promote PSC products in the mainland through wine tasting and face-to-face exchange.
GBA Global Conference to be held on 8 November
During the 4th CIIE, IPIM will join hands with the Department of Commerce of Guangdong Province and InvestHK of the Hong Kong SAR to hold the “GBA Global Conference 2021 – Seize the Opportunities brought about by the Qianhai and Hengqin Plans” on 8 November through online and offline channels.
All relevant units and individuals participating in the activities organised by IPIM during the 4th CIIE must fully co-operate with the pandemic prevention efforts by strictly following the guidelines issued by the local health department.
