“Careers Day 2022” at MPU with Over 2,000 Jobs Presented

An online “Careers Day 2022” held at MPU to help university students make their career development plans

In order to strengthen the cooperation between university and enterprises and provide a career matching platform between enterprises and university students, Macao Polytechnic University (MPU) held an online “Careers Day 2022” on March 31. A total of 80 well-known local, mainland China and international institutions participated in the event, offering over 2,000 job vacancies and organising more than 20 career talks, including digital energy development, the role of the Sino-Portuguese business platform, internship and entrepreneurship opportunities in the Greater Bay Area, public service, information systems, risk control services, and many other topics. The event also provided a variety of job interview skills workshops to help university students make their career development plans in an all-round way.

The online opening ceremony of “Careers Day 2022” was held on the morning of March 31. The Vice-Rector of MPU, Dr. Lei Ngan Lin said in her speech that the release of the "Second Five-Year Plan for the Economic and Social Development of the Macao Special Administrative Region" has brought new opportunities to Macao. With the comprehensive development of the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin and the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, graduates will have more diversified opportunities and more room for employment. This year, there are more institutions from the Greater Bay Area participating in the job fair and offering online career talks to broaden students' career horizons. Macao Polytechnic University will continue to focus on cultivating professional and practical talents, and expanding the talent pool for the construction of China and Macao.

According to the recently completed MPU Graduate Employment Survey, 90% of graduates choose to work or to further their studies, and nearly 90% of the graduates who choose to work, are successfully employed within one to three months after graduation, with an average monthly salary of 15,300 patacas. Most of them work in jobs related to their majors, with the top four industries including medical treatment, health care and nursing (17.7%), education (17%), tourism, convention, hotel and catering (12.6%), as well as design, art, music and performance, and cultural and creative industries (9.5%) .

As the organiser of the event, the MPU Student Affairs Office said that the website of “Careers Day 2022” features information on job opportunities, career talks, job interview tips and other information, and the online career fair offered more than 2,000 job vacancies for students to apply for online. This support provides students with career information and guidance in a variety of ways, so that they can start their careers and embrace new opportunities.
