IFTM holds Career Day Around 1,200 job vacancies for IFTM graduating students Alumni Entrepreneur Sharing Session held on the same day

IFTM holds Career Day

Macao Institute for Tourism Studies (IFTM) held 2023 Career Day on 2 March at IFTM Taipa Campus. A total of 65 organisations (including 3 from Hong Kong SAR, Guangdong and Shanghai) from various sectors set booths and provided around 1,200 job vacancies with job details and employment information, as well as the latest trend in the job market to IFTM graduating students. The Career Day aimed to provide a direct communication platform among students and employers as well as to better prepare graduating students for successful job application later.

During the event, exhibiting representatives introduced career prospects and positions available. On-site interviews were also arranged and received overwhelming responses from the students. In the same evening, two alumni entrepreneurs, Wini Cheong and Jacob Wong were invited to share their entrepreneurial experience in the “Alumni Entrepreneur Sharing Session”. In addition, representatives from relevant government departments or non-governmental organisations were invited to set booths, deliver talks and workshops from 22 February to 18 March. Topics included youth employment support, basic interview and etiquette workshop, career planning and personality dimensions workshop, etc.

According to the Career Placement Survey for 2021/2022 graduates:

- 73.3% of Master’s graduate respondents got full-time employment and those working full-time in Macao SAR had monthly median salary of MOP17,250.

- 85.3% of Bachelor’s graduate respondents got employment, started own business or pursued higher level of education. The monthly median salary of Bachelor’s full-time graduate respondents in Macao SAR was MOP15,600.

- Of the employed Bachelor’s graduate respondents, 50.2% of them were employed in tourism and hospitality sector, followed by services sector (17.1%), education sector (8.6%), financial and insurance sector (6.8%) and conference and exhibition (6.2%). The remaining 11.1% of them were employed in other employment sectors.
