Service Coverage

Non-residents who need to extend the limit of their Authorization to Stay may apply for ‘Extension of Authorization to Stay’, ‘Exceptional Extension of Authorization to Stay’ according to Article 11 or 29 of Law No. 16/2021 and Article 11 of Administrative Regulation No. 38/2021.

Target Groups and Application Eligibility

Target Group

1. Extension of Authorization to Stay: Persons who need to extend the limit of their Authorization to Stay for an accumulative total of no more than 90 days
2. Exceptional Extension of Authorization to Stay: on humanitarian grounds or other justifiable grounds worth exceptional consideration, application to be submitted to the Chief Executive
3. Extension of Authorization to Stay by applicants of Residence Authorization while waiting for application result: Persons who need to extend the limit of their Authorization to Stay after applying for Residence Authorization via the Residence and Stay Affairs Department of the Public Security Police Force or the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) and while waiting for the application result

Application Eligibility

1. Meeting the stipulations relevant to the Legal Regime of Immigration Control, Stay and Residence Authorization of the Macao Special Administrative Region
   (e.g.(1) Meeting the stipulations relevant to the system of entry, stay and residence authorization in Macao; and (2) Not in a lawfully restricted status.)
2. The limit of stay granted in the original Authorization to Stay is not sufficient for the applicant of Residence Authorization to legally stay in Macao until the application result is out. [Note: only applicable in applications made by Residence Authorization applicants while waiting for the result]
