How to process

Required Document:
1. Legible photocopy of Import License issued by the Economic and Technological Development Bureau;
2. Legible photocopy of Certificate of Endangered Animal Species issued by the Economic and Technological Development Bureau;
3a. Legible photocopy of identity document(s);
3b. Legible photocopy of Registration for Operation of Foreign Trade issued by the Economic and Technological Development Bureau.

Remarks/ points to note for application

Important note:
1. As the Economic and Technological Development Bureau is in charge of the licensing of import of endangered wild animals, applicants should file their application to the Economic and Technological Development Bureau;
2. All imported live animals are required to undergo health inspection;
3. Upon issue of the respective license by the Economic and Technological Development Bureau, the applicants have to inform IAM in advance about the date and time of arrival of the imported endangered wild animal(s) for IAM to make necessary arrangements for its/their inspection upon entry. If the applicants fail to do so, it shall delay the respective inspection of the animal(s) at the entry port;
4. Upon arrival at the entry port, the imported animal(s) are required to undergo health inspection conducted by the veterinarian of IAM. If the health condition of the imported animal(s) fail to fulfill the entry requirements stipulated by IAM, the animal(s) shall be seized and undergo further health inspection;
5. Besides the payable license fee for import of live animals, the applicants are required to pay for the food, accomodation and inspection fee of the seized animal(s) during its/their quarantine period;
6. The applicants need to ask for the entry requirements of health condition of the import animal(s) during the application;
7. Upon arrival of the animal(s), the applicants need to present the certificate which fulfils the entry requirements of health stipulated by IAM and was issued by the government of the country of origin.
8. A booking system is adopted for inspection service at all ports of entry for import and re-export of live animals. Applicants are required to contact the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) at least one working day in advance to confirm their bookings for inspection service. Time when inspection service can be provided:
1). Land ports of entry: Monday to Friday, 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. (except public holidays);
2). Sea ports of entry: Monday to Friday, 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. (except public holidays);
3). Air port of entry (airport): Monday to Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. (except public holidays).
