Program Introduction
Organized by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the People’s Republic of China and the Secretariat for Social Affairs and Culture of Macao Special Administrative Region Government, co-organized by the Department of Publicity and Culture of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao SAR, coordinated by the Cultural Affairs Bureau of Macao SAR Government, Shenzhen International Cultural Exchange Association, and Shenzhen Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism and Sports, and supported by Sands China Limited, the “Performance to Celebrate the 75th Anniversary of the National Day of the People’s Republic of China and the Haojiang Moonlight Night” – Dance Drama “Wing Chun” will be held on 13 and 14 September, at 8pm, at the Macao Cultural Centre Grand Auditorium in order to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival and the National Day with the public.
Produced and presented by Shenzhen Opera and Dance Theatre, the dance drama “Wing Chun” recreates the production process of the film of the same name, relating the story of “Master Yip” who travelled to a faraway place and walked the streets full of martial arts halls where a lot of martial arts masters are, holding a plaque engraved with “Wing Chun Tong”, with the hope of introducing “Wing Chun” to more people. Highlighting the perseverance of Chinese people with a rich storyline, this drama is a heroic story that pays tribute to ordinary people.
With the combination of the national intangible cultural heritage and folk culture of Lingnan region, “Wing Chun” is innovatively developed based on the two intangible cultural heritage items, “Wing Chun”, and “Gambiered Guangdong silk”. In the dance drama “Wing Chun”, movements of five schools of martial arts, namely Wing Chun, Southern Praying Mantis, Baguazhang, Bajiquan, and Tai Chi, are presented, precisely interpreting the essence of martial arts through dance routines and showcasing the harmony between strength and flexibility of Kungfu. Meanwhile, the performance costumes are made of Gambiered Guangdong silk, which is a national intangible cultural heritage item dedicated to Guangdong, bringing visual enjoyment to the audience through the performers’ movements and revealing the unique culture of Lingnan culture from the inside out of the play. Since its launch, the theatre has been performing all over the country and has been a sensation in the national performing arts market.

Tickets will be on sale simultaneously from 10 am on August 11, 2024 (Sunday) through all Macau Ticketing Network stores, telephone and online booking. Each person is limited to 4 tickets per show, while supplies last.
Ticket Discounts
Holders of valid Macao ID Card, Macao Teacher Card, full-time Student Card, Macao Senior Citizen Card and Disability Assessment Registration Card are entitled to half-price discounts when purchasing tickets online and at the stores. Each cardholder can only use one discounted ticket per show. Cardholders are required to present the respective identity document for admission, otherwise full ticket fare will be charged.
20% Discount
CCM Friends, Friends of Macao Orchestra and Friends of Macao Chinese Orchestra are entitled to a 20% discount when purchasing the tickets.
Notice
- Audience members should arrive at the performance venue 15 minutes in advance. As to avoid affecting with performance, the Organizer reserves the right to determine at what time and in what manner latecomers are admitted and to reject the admission of latecomers or audience members who abandon the performance venue during the show;
- The performance time including an intermission is around 2 hours and 12 minutes and it features some Chinese projection contents.
- Suitable for viewing by persons aged 13 or above;
- All mobile phones, beeping and lighting devices should be switched off throughout the performances; photography, audio and video recording are not permitted.;
- Smoking and eating are prohibited inside the performance venue and the possession of objects considered dangerous, drinks, food and plastic bags are not allowed to be brought into the venues;
- The Organizer reserves the right to make temporary changes to the original programme and the cast of performers.

- In case of any dispute, the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macao SAR Government reserves the right of interpretation and final decision.
