The Minister of Commerce, Mr Bo Xilai, said today that three core segments of the Second Forum for Economic and Trade Cooperation between China and the Portuguese-speaking Countries (Macao) namely the opening, the ministerial conference and conference for enterprises have strengthened Sino-Lusophone cooperation, Mr Bo and the seven ministerial-level officials from Angola, Cape Verde, Guinea Bissau, Mozambique, Portugal, East Timor and Brazil, and the Secretary for Economic and Finance, Mr Tam Pak Yuen, was speaking at a press conference at the closing of the forum. Mr Bo described the forum as fruitful, with dedication of different parties, highly praising the part done by the Macao Government. When asked about the economic development of Macao, Mr Bo said he was satisfied with the rapid economic growth in recent years. Though Macao is geographically small, the convention and exhibition industry still room to develop, with good environment and a pool of talented people. He said he believed Macao would become an important economic information interchange centre within the region. Mr Tam who also spoke at the conference, said acting as the business-service platform for the region, Macao would continue to improve the forum in order to add value to the bilateral trade between China and Portuguese-speaking countries.
