Government Headquarters will again be open to the public, next Saturday and Sunday (16-17 September), from 9 am to 6 pm. The official complex has been opened to the public for two consecutive days every year since 2001, attracting thousands of visitors every time. The Police Band and the Macao Orchestra will perform there during the open day: the Macau Government Tourist Office will also offer visitors mementos at a booth they would set up there. Located on Avenida Praia Grande, the Macao SAR Government Headquarters covers an area of 7,700 square metres and comprises three buildings, with a total floor area of 10,000 square metres. The mansion was built in 1849 and was bought by the Portuguese-Macao government and used as the official residence for the Portuguese governors of Macao since, and as their offices. After the establishment of the Macao SAR Government on December 20, 1999, the mansion was renovated, with its original architectural style and features retained. The front block of the Headquarters houses the Office of the Chief Executive, conference room for the Executive Council, the Lotus Room, a multi-purpose conference room and a pressroom, as well as the Green Room, the Yellow Room and the Blue Room, which are usually used for meetings and banquets.
