Government to cut pressure on teachers and review salary

The Government will find ways to reduce the workload on teachers and, at the same time, review their salaries to reflect its determination to enhance the education sector. It will also open two more channels to collect opinions and suggestions from teachers, the Chief Executive, Mr Edmund Ho Hau Wah, said today. The Government has largely promoted the development of the education sector in recent years, for instance in the 15-year free education: there were also improvements in the teaching "quantity and quality", Mr Ho said. He said the Government would put extra resources to assist and to share teachers' workload. He added that the Government would continue to support the education sector by improving the school environment such as study programmes.
