Public Prosecutions Office investigating case of illegal workers

The Public Prosecutions Office (PPO) has started to investigate an incident in which illegal workers were found in the new home of the Director of Labour Affairs Bureau (DSAL), which was being decorated. The Secretary for Economy and Finance has sought and was granted the Chief Executive’s permission to pass on the case to the PPO since it raised public concern, a statement released by the Secretary’s office said. Several illegal workers were found in the new home of the Director of DSAL, Shuen Ka Hung, who had authorised a contractor to carry out renovation. In order to have a clearer picture on the incident, the Secretary, Mr Tam Pak Yuen, has suggested to the Chief Executive to pass the case to the Public Prosecutions Office for further investigation, the statement stated.
