Macanese and other residents have made significant contribution to the prosperity and stability of Macao, visiting Vice President, Mr Xi Jinping said today. Mr Xi acknowledged these residents’ efforts when he toured Taipa Houses-Museum this morning in the company of Chief Executive Mr Edmund Ho Hau Wah, where he watched a Portuguese folk dance performance and tried some Portuguese snacks. Speaking with some Macanese there, Mr Xi said the Central Government and the Macao SAR Government had placed much attention to the interests of Portuguese descendants in Macao, whose interests are protected in accordance with the Basic Law. Mr Xi said the Macanese community and the other residents made significant contributions to the prosperity and stability of Macao since the territory’s return to Chinese rule, and that he hoped the Macanese community would continue to support the administration of the Macao SAR Government and strive for a better future for Macao.
