2010MIECF: Green business co-operation day to promote regional co-operation


To further strengthen business cooperation in the area of environmental protection, a “Green Business Co-operation Day” and series of related activities will be held on the first day of the 2010MIECF. The Green Business Co-operation Day is aimed at further enhancing Macao´s business networking with international companies, in order to grasp business opportunities derived from the development of the green economy. The event is jointly organised by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM), Macao Chamber of Commerce, the European Union Chamber of Commerce in China, Madrid Chamber of Commerce and industry and the European Union Business Information Programme (EUBIP), with the Economic Information Department of the CCPIT as co-ordinator. By combining the strengths and networking power of the participating trade promotion organisations and chambers of commerce, the Organisers expect that co-operation between Mainland China, Macao and overseas enterprises, in the area of environmental protection industry, will be enhanced. The theme of the Green Business Cooperation Day is “Promoting Regional Co-operation to Create Green Business Opportunities”. Mr Francis Tam Pak Yuen, Secretary for Economy and Finance of Macao SAR has been invited to preside over the opening ceremony and deliver an opening speech. In addition, Mr Zhang Wei, Vice-Chairman of CCPIT, and Mr Hui Sai Iun, President of the Board of Directors of Macao Chamber of Commerce, will also deliver speeches at the opening ceremony. Representatives of Chambers of Commerce from Mainland China, Europe and the Portuguese-speaking countries, as well as business leaders of listed international corporations in environmental business will present their respective market views and perspectives on the industry. Green Business Summit, one of the highlights of the Green Business Cooperation Day, will be held at 2:30 p.m. on 8 April (Thursday), at the Sicily Room of Venetian-Macao-Resort. Speakers will include Mr Hélio Neves, Secretary-General of the Secretariat of Green Areas and the Environment of São Paulo City Hall, Brazil, M. Loo Fong Boon, Representative of PRD Environment Working Group, the European Union Chamber of Commerce in China, Mr Pan Wentang, President of China Environment Service Industry Association of All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce, Mr Juan I. Aguilar, Representative of the President of Madrid Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr António Trindade, President of Macao Association of Environmental Protection Industry, Mr Daniel M. Cheng, President of Hong Kong Environmental Industry Association and Mr Massimo Bagnasco, Chair of Beijing Construction Working Group, European Union Chamber of Commerce in China. Moreover, senior executives from several listed companies and large corporations, including Mr Hu Xiaoyong, Executive Director and CEO of Beijing Enterprises Water Group Limited (listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange), Mr Denis Leung, President and CEO of Siemens (Hong Kong) Limited, Mr João Marques da Cruz, Board Member of EDP Internacional, Mr Pekka Tyllilä, Sales Director, Asia Pacific, of Lamor Group., will conduct in-dept analysis and discussions on environmental development projects and perspectives of the environmental industry market. Green Business Networking Cocktail Reception and Signing Ceremony will held at 5:30 p.m. on 8 April at the Exhibition Hall A of the 2010 MIECF venue, at Venetian-Macao-Resort. During the event, several cooperation agreements in the area environmental protection industry will be signed. The said function will provide exchange and networking opportunities for enterprises from different parts of the world and will also straighten the cooperation in environmental protection industry among Macao, Mainland China (in particular the PRD region) and the overseas markets.
