The Tourism Crisis Management Office (GGCT), continues to maintain close contact with the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the tourism industry and the representation of the Macao Government Tourist Office (MGTO) in Japan as to follow developments after the earthquake struck Japan. The accident in the Fukushima power plant continues to influence the lifestyle in the Macao Special Administrative Region. The Office has appealed to the population not to travel to Japan and to remain attentive to the indications given out by Japanese authorities and take necessary precautions as to guarantee a higher level of personal safety. According to information from the tourism sector, group tours organized by Macau travel agencies have been suspended until the 15th of April, 2011. For further information, travel agencies in which tours were booked should be contacted. GGCT would like to recall that the tourism hotline continues to operate (853-2833 3000), for emergency inquiries as well as the hotline that has been set-up in Japan so that Macao residents who are still in Japan can call for inquiries. The hotline is operating in English and Japanese languages: 09027490386 (for local calls in Japan) and +819027490386 (calling from Macao). Meanwhile, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs through the Embassy in Japan has established an emergency and information contacts (24 hours) as to provide citizens who are in Japan with information: 03-3403-33880, from 09h00 until 01h00 in the morning and 03-3403-3388 extensions 8881, 8882 and 8712 during normal office hours. GGCT appeals to residents who still do not have plans to leave Japan in the near future, to provide their contact details as soon as possible, such as phone numbers, address in Japan and email, to: info@ggct.gov.mo. From the past four days until the present day (25 March), GGCT has not received any inquiry. GGCT accounts for an accumulated total of 311 inquiries, mainly related to the current situation in Japan and the situation of air transportation. On the other hand two Macao residents have already sent their contact details in order to facilitate communication in case of need.
