Tourist Information counters operate as usual
Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) is making unreserved efforts to coordinate and handle various tasks in the wake of the typhoon, in the hope to minimize its impact on visitors.
MGTO has approached hotel properties for further information on their situations, including their status of water and power supply as well as room reservation. Their situations are as follows:
Three-star to five-star deluxe hotel establishments (64 in total):
36 hotels have water and power supply
1 hotel has water supply
13 hotels have power supply
6 hotels have no water or power supply
8 hotels cannot be reached or have not replied
For guest houses, as most of them are situated in areas more severely impacted by the typhoon, most of the guest houses have not resumed their water and power supply, or cannot be reached.
If visitors have already made their room reservation or are planning to make a room reservation in Macao, they are advised to enquire the respective hotels of their latest situations first. With some of the roads temporarily closed after the typhoon and more traffic congestion around the city, visitors are advised to pay attention too.
A total of 329 tour groups have arrived in Macao today. Due to various conditions in the aftermath of the typhoon, their itineraries may be affected. MGTO is currently looking into and following up with their situations. MGTO has also assigned inspectors to patrol different ports of entry in Macao for prompt awareness of the latest situations.
Up to now, MGTO has received 11 enquiries, complaints and suggestions regarding visitor itineraries, taxi and bus service, show ticket refund, travel agency and hotel service among other aspects. There is no complaint or enquiry about hotel room prices up to this moment.
At the same time, MGTO is scrutinizing room prices of local hotels and guest houses, and has by far discovered no escalation among room prices from their original amount declared by hotel and guest house establishments to MGTO, while some online booking websites were found to have raised their room prices. MGTO will continue to conduct a scrutiny of hotel room prices and will impose penalties upon any irregularities according to stipulated regulations.
MGTO operates its Tourist Information counters at the Ritz Building, Outer Harbour Ferry Terminal, Border Gate, Macau International Airport and Taipa Ferry Terminal as usual to attend to visitors.
As the organizer, MGTO is currently examining and assessing the situations and conditions concerning its upcoming events. If any new arrangement arises, a public notice will be made accordingly.
