Water Supply Situation of Macao

Three sets of pumps of the Ilha Verde Water Treatment Plant have resumed full operation after urgent repair works were carried out. The amount of water supplied is gradually increasing and the quality is guaranteed. However, since residents have a keen demand for water, capture, consumption and storage of large amount of water at the same time have resulted in excessive water demand in Macao which the current water supply system is not able to satisfy. The water distribution network cannot be filled with drinking water effectively, causing the fact that although water supply has resumed in some areas, insufficient water pressure and even suspension of water supply still occur in some parts of the areas. The Marine and Water Bureau appeals to the users to save water, reduce unnecessary water use and refrain from using water from fire services, which help to restore full water supply in Macao.

The high-lying areas of the Peninsula (higher parts in San Kio, Rua Nova à Guia, Rua Central, Penha Hill etc.) as well as other areas located at the end of the network system (near Rua do Regedor in Taipa, One Oasis, Concordia Industrial Park, campus of University of Macau on Hengqin Island etc.) suffer slow flow of water or suspension of water supply, but it is hoped that water supply will gradually be back to normal in the coming one to two days. Water rationing or full suspension of water supply will not be imposed in Macao. Residents are advised not to believe or spread such rumours.

In order to safeguard water supply to residents, the Macao Water Supply Company Limited has established 13 temporary water supply points and the points will be adjusted timely:

1. Beco do Padre António Roliz;

8. No 136, Rua Nova à Guia;

2. IACM Service Centre at Three Lamp post
