Cultural Affairs Bureau promotes Parade close by the community, public are welcome to join in fantastic adventure

Several three-dimensional creative sculptures and models are set along the Parade

The “Parade through Macao, Latin City”, organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau in celebration of the 16th anniversary of Macao’s handover to China and the 10th anniversary of Macao as World Heritage, will be held on Sunday, 6 December. In order to make public resided along the Parade route familiar with the arrangements and the activities, the organiser dispatched personnel to deliver flyers close by the community on 3 December, in order to promote and introduce the event, enthusiastically received by residents. The team shifted in small groups and visited the public resided along the Parade route and shops, including students and elderly in community, to explain the Parade information, route maps and traffic arrangements for the event. This year, the Parade will gather nearly 1,500 local and foreign performers who will embark on a fantastic treasure hunt adventure, building a cultural exchange platform and an incentive for artistic creativity. The Parade includes remarkable performances by French troupe Herbert’s Dream, which will present an uncommon show on stilts in which five enormous four-metre high stilt artists participate in a mysterious ceremony held under hypnotising music, mutating into human light bulbs and creating a magical atmosphere; huge balloons and giant puppets by French group Plasticiens Volants; traditional solo dance by Indonesian group Reyog Moncar Manggala Surakarta; traditional Aztec dance by Mexican troupe Danza Azteca; and also performances by the Luyi Folk Arts Group, hailing from Henan Province, among others. This year, local illustrators Eric Fok Hoi Seng, Un Chi Wai and Lam Ieong Kun were invited to create three-dimensional sculptures and interesting characters along the Parade route, from the Ruins of St. Paul’s to Rua de Dom Belchior Carneiro, Travessa da Paixão and the Cinematheque . Passion, Largo de Santo António, Calçada da Igreja de S. Lázaro and Tap Seac Square, among other places, where treasure chests will also be found. Residents can scan the QR Codes affixed to the treasure chests and participate in an interactive game using their mobile phones, standing a chance to win excellent prizes. A “Face Painting Workshop” will also be set up at Rua de Sanches de Miranda and Rua de Dom Belchior Carneiro, where professionals will offer participants colourful face painting, allowing them to fully immerse themselves in this day’s festive atmosphere. The organiser will provide a live broadcast of the Parade on TDM Macau and TDM HD TV channels from 4:00pm to 7:00pm, which will also be available on large screens located in Senado Square, Rotunda de Carlos da Maia, Areia Preta Garden and Rua de D. Belchior Carneiro. A Parade Special Programme will be broadcasted on 15 December at 7:00pm on the Hong Kong TVB Jade Channel for audiences to review the best moments of the Parade.
