The Government will host a series of activities, including a flag-raising ceremony, a reception, a variety show, and firework display, to celebrate the 66th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China on Thursday. On National Day (1 October), the Chief Executive, Mr Chui Sai On, representatives from the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao SAR, the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China in the Macao SAR, the Macao Garrison of the People’s Liberation Army, heads of the legislature and judiciary, principal officials and people from all walks of life will attend the flag-raising ceremony at Golden Lotus Square at 8 am. The ceremony will be broadcast live on television channels of Teledifusão de Macau (TDM). Later the day, the Chief Executive will preside over the launching ceremony of the commemorative running contest and will attend the National Day reception at Macau Tower at 9.30 am. A number of government departments will also hold celebratory events on Thursday, such as a variety show organised by the Macao Sport Development Board, at Macao East Asian Games Dome at 2 pm; and a Chinese acrobatic show “Nutcracker”, to be staged at the Macao Forum on 8 pm on Wednesday and Thursday, which is organised by the Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau, the Cultural Affairs Bureau and the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in Macao. Pyrotechnics displays of the 27th Macau International Fireworks Display Contest, by teams from Australia and China, will take place on the waterfront near Macau Tower at 9 pm and 9.40 pm on Thursday. The Macao Post will offer commemorative covers for sale and stamping service at its headquarters building from 9 am to 5.30 pm on the National Day.
