In order to mark the Mid-Autumn Festival, the Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs Office of the Ministry of Culture of the PRC and the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macao SAR Government organize “Haojiang Moonlight Night – Opera Warriors”, counting on the support of the Ministry of Culture of the PRC and the Secretariat for Social Affairs and Culture of the MSAR, as well as with the cooperation of the Shanxi Provincial Department of Culture. The performance takes to the Macao Cultural Centre Grand Auditorium stage on 15 and 16 September, at 8pm. Tickets will be on sale from next Tuesday (8 August) at the Macau Ticketing Network outlets.

“Opera Warriors” is a production by the Shanxi Huajin Dance Drama Ensemble inspired by the story of a group of actors from the Liyuan music academy during the period of development of Chinese opera. Through a combination between Chinese classical dances, Chinese traditional opera and Shanxi Chinese opera local elements, this opera takes the life story of three actors in an opera class to show feelings between mentors and disciples, fathers and sons and brothers, loving feelings, resentments, vicissitudes of a social life, an unyielding spirit, among others. The opera used modern thinking and viewpoints to trigger in the audience reflections on the past and human nature, revealing the meaning of “the stage as a small world, the world as a big stage”.
