Experience sharing by 3 ISSCC committee members from UM well received in mainland China

The delegation in Wuhan Optical Valley

A delegation from the International Technical Program Committee (ITPC) of the IEEE International Solid-State Circuit Conference (ISSCC, also known as the ‘Chip Olympics’) 2018, including Prof U Seng Pan, Prof Mak Pui In, and Prof Law Man Kay from the University of Macau’s (UM) State Key Laboratory of Analog Mixed-Signal VLSI, successfully organised an ISSCC promotional activity in Wuhan Optical Valley and Nanjing Wireless Valley, with over 100 attendees from both academia and industry.

Coordinated by Prof U Seng Pan (UM and also with Synopsys Macau) as the ISSCC Country Representative for China, a delegation with five members comprising Prof U, Prof Hong Zhiliang (Fudan University), Prof Howard Luong (Hong Kong University of Science and Technology), Prof Mak Pui In (UM and also ISSCC Far-East Coordinator) and Prof Law Man Kay (UM), presented the latest trends in solid-state circuits development on the topics of data converters, power management, wireless, technology directions and analog, respectively. The ITPC members are well-known experts in the field and UM professors’ presence in such committee shows recognition of the world-leading position of UM’s State Key Laboratory in analog IC design.

Prof U and Prof Mak were also specially invited to give presentations to share their experience in how to prepare a good ISSCC paper, which were highly praised by the local organisers and attendees, who expressed hope to host such interactive activities on a regular basis in the future.

The ISSCC is recognised, both in academia and industry, as the world’s leading conference in the field of solid-state IC design. Nearly 50 per cent of the papers submitted to the conference are from the world's leading semiconductor companies. The conference will celebrate its 65th anniversary in 2018.
