Consuls accredited to Hong Kong and Macao attend 28th Macao Arts Festival and experience Macao’s artistic atmosphere

Resonance through Space-Time

On the occasion of the 28thMacao Arts Festival (MAF), the Macao S.A.R. Government invited consuls of various countries accredited to Hong Kong and Macao to participate in a tour organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) on 23 May. The delegation visited the exhibition “The Art of Zhang Daqian” at the Macao Museum of Art, as well as the Macau Design Centre (MDC), and attended the concert Resonance through Space-Time by the Macao Orchestra. This cultural visit featured the integration of Chinese and Western arts in Macao and allowed the consuls to understand the development of Macao’s cultural and creative industries.

The consular corps, accompanied by the Vice President of IC, Kent Ieong Chi Kin, and guided by IC personnel, visited the exhibition “The Art of Zhang Daqian” at the Macao Museum of Art. This exhibition features the Sichuan Museum’s collection of Zhang Daqian’s masterpieces from his early years, including his replicas of the murals during the years in Dunhuang, landscape paintings, portraits and line drawings, letters written and seals used before and after his trip to Dunhuang.The delegation then headed to the MDC, installed in an old factory, getting an overview of Macao’s cultural and creative industries and learning about the development and features of the industries.

At the end of the day, the delegation, accompanied by the President of IC, Leung Hio Ming, attended the concert Resonance through Space-Timeat the Venetian Theatre. The concert, performed by Serbian violinist Nemanja Radulovic in collaboration with the young Spanish conductor Jose Luis Gomez and Macao Orchestra, took the visitors on a musical journey through time. Featuring a varied programme, the concert received an enthusiastic response from the audience. The visit introduced members of the delegation the rich variety of Macao’s cultural and artistic panorama and allowed them to deepen their understanding about the city’s cultural and creative industries, elevating Macao’s cultural and artistic image.
