Opening of “Flowing Hues – Painting Exhibition by Pan Jin Ling and Pan Jin Xia”

“Flowing Hues – Painting Exhibition by Pan Jin Ling and Pan Jin Xia”, organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau, was inaugurated on Friday, 31 March, at 6:30pm, at the Chun Chou Tong Pavilion of Lou Lim Ioc Garden. The opening ceremony was attended by the Director of the Department of Education and Culture of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao S.A.R, Xu Ting; the Vice President of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, Kent Ieong Chi Kin; the Director of Macao Daily News, Lok Po; the Consultant of the Macau Artist Society, Chen Ji Chun; and the artists of the exhibition, Pan Jin Ling and Pan Jin Xia.

Macao-born sisters Pan Jin Ling and Pan Jin Xia are senior painters who started their artistic journey at a young age and have dedicated persistent efforts to artistic creation. The younger sister, Pan Jin Ling, produces works with a strong contemporary style, applying Western colour techniques to traditional Chinese painting brushwork with mastery. Her “Innocence” series of figures shows lovely children and reveals the artist’s vivid insights of life with brilliant and dreamy compositions; in turn, her “Macao World Heritage” paintings expertly convey and merge Chinese and Western imageries typical of Macao to create an interesting contrast.

The elder sister Pan Jin Xia produces mainly watercolours, and her series of landscape paintings show vivid and realistic sketching infused with highly expressional personal emotions. Her works reveal the peculiar laidback feeling of small Macao from a woman’s standpoint, using a soft and reserved palette supplemented by rich, brilliant colours.

“Flowing Hues – Painting Exhibition by Pan Jin Ling and Pan Jin Xia” is open from 1 April to 7 May at the Chun Chou Tong Pavilion of Lou Lim Ioc Garden, located at No. 10, Estrada de Adolfo Loureiro. Admission is free. The exhibition is open daily from 9am to 7pm, including public holidays. In addition, the organizer also offers guided tours for schools and institutions every Saturday and Sunday, from 3pm to 4pm, upon advanced booking.
