The “Local Ginger – Cenozoic Graffiti Art Exhibition” and “Impression of Macau – Art Exhibition of Andre Lui” at the Lakeside Gallery

Opening ceremony of the “Local Ginger – Cenozoic Graffiti Art Exhibition” and “Impression of Macau – Art Exhibition of Andre Lui”

Co-organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) and the Macao Artist Society, the opening ceremony of the “Local Ginger – Cenozoic Graffiti Art Exhibition” and “Impression of Macau – Art Exhibition of Andre Lui” was held on 21 January 2017, at the Lakeside Gallery in the Anim’Arte NAM VAN.

The opening ceremony was officiated by the Vice President of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, Chan Peng Fai; the Assistant of the Chief of the Department of Education and Culture of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao S.A.R., Shao Bin; the Honorary President of the Macau Artist Society, Ao Cam Iong; President of the Macau Artist Society, Lai Ieng; the local artists, Lui Chak Keong and PIBG.

The “Local Ginger – Cenozoic Graffiti Art Exhibition” is held at the Lakeside Gallery - S1 room in the Anim’Arte NAM VAN, featuring the works of Macao graffiti artist PIBG and the graffiti creators of the new generation. PIBG is the forerunner of local graffiti and his most recognized paintings are of human characters and animals in an expressive humoristic style with strikingly bright and contrasting colors. This exhibition is dedicated to street art, displaying the strong personal style of the graffiti artists of the new generation, in order to bring the visitors a lively visual feast.

The “Impression of Macau – Art Exhibition of Andre Lui” is held at the Lakeside Gallery - S2 room in the Anim’Arte NAM VAN, featuring more than 20 paintings by Macao artist Lui Chak Keong, who has been producing depictions of Lou Lim Ieoc Garden since 2006. In addition to part of his paintings of Lou Lim Ieoc Garden, this exhibition also displays his quick sketches of Macao’s World Heritage sites and Nam Van. Liu expects to present the landscape of Macao through the years in this exhibition, which combines traditional Chinese gardens, the Historic Center of Macao integrated with Chinese and Western cultures and the new and old Nam Van.

The “Local Ginger – Cenozoic Graffiti Art Exhibition” is held from 21 January to 6 April 2017, while the “Impression of Macau – Art Exhibition of Andre Lui” is held from 21 January to 20 February 2017. Both of the two exhibitions are open daily from 11am to 10pm at the Lakeside Gallery in the Anim’Arte NAM VAN, located at Nam Van Lakeside Plaza at Avenida Panorâmica do Lago Nam Van. Admission is free. The exhibitions are open to the general public and artworks are available for sale.
