Macao Orchestra brings the concert in Viennese style in celebration of the New Year Beethoven’s chamber music concert to be held at Dom Pedro V Theatre this Saturday

Starry Vienna - New Year Concert

The Macao Orchestra, under the auspices of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, presented the annual “Starry Vienna - New Year Concert” on 8 January 2017, at the Macao Cultural Centre Grand Auditorium, and invited the conductor Bruno Weil, who has been active in Austria, to bring the traditional New Year Concert in Viennese style. All tickets were sold out. The concert featured festive decorations and photography activity in a joyful atmosphere.

Following its successful debut last year, the Macao Orchestra continued on bringing the traditional New Year Concert from Vienna, the capital of Austria, this year. This concert features a number of pieces with pleasant melodies, including Pizzicato Polka by Johann Strauss II and Radetzky March by Johann Strauss I as well as other pieces of festive music such as the Gold and Silber Waltz by Franz Lehár and the Overture to Light Cavalry by Franz von Suppé. The audience enjoyed much in the concert. It was the first time for the conductor Bruno Weil and the tenor Gerard Schneider to have performance in Macao and they were glad to see that the local audience had the same passion for the traditional New Year Concert in Viennese style, showing the rich festive atmosphere.

In addition, the Macao Orchestra will present the Beethoven’s chamber music concert “Beethoven and His Transition” on Saturday, 14 January, at 8pm, at the Dom Pedro V Theatre, featuring two classics of Beethoven’s works. Tickets for the concert “Beethoven and His Transition” are priced at MOP120 and MOP100.
